BUENOS AIRES
Yes, I know. Everybody has been telling me what a lucky bugger I am.
I’ve always wanted to get to Argentina, and have finally made it. Just completed a seven day shoot at the amazing Faena Hotel + Universe. A great shoot, made so much easier by the efforts of my client, the lovely Mariana, and my great assistant Fran. Thanks to you both. You’re stars! I’ll post some of the shots when I get back to the frozen North next week.
The only downside was that I literally didn’t set foot outside the hotel till day six, when I had a couple of hours off. Grabbed a taxi and told the taxista to drive me around and show me some good places. The car was full to overflowing with ‘Boca Juniors’ stuff, so, obviously we headed straight to ‘La Boca’. You’ve probably all seen pictures of this neighborhood, and ‘colourful’ really doesn’t do it justice! Sadly, I missed the chance to have my picture taken with the amazing Maradona impersonator as I didn’t have any change.
Then on to the San Telmo district, to see the antiques & flea market held every Sunday, and a cruise along the Costanera for a ‘choripan’ ¡muy sabroso!
Its a beautiful city. All the people I’ve met have been charming, freindly and ridiculously good looking, and I could live here in a heartbeat.
Will I ever return? I hope so, but the airfares are crazily expensive, so, realistically, probably not. Sad, I want to see so much more. There will, however, always remain a little place in my heart that is…100% Argentino.
